About 'southeastern bible college birmingham'|Podcast - Keith Gibson - Canon of Scripture








Situated               on               over               fifty               acres               of               wooded               land               in               Roberta,               Georgia,               Camp               Eunice               has               been               ministering               to               children               and               teens               of               all               ages               since               1975.

Every               summer,               church               youth               groups               spanning               Alabama,               Georgia,               Missippi               and               many               other               southern               states               flock               to               Camp               Eunice               for               a               week               of               fun               and               Scriptural               learning.

From               recreational               games               and               swimming               to               Bible               classes,               chapel               services               and               devotion               classes,               the               camp               has               been               ministering               to               people's               lives               and               spreading               the               gospel               of               Jesus               Christ               with               unwavering               diligence.

Pastor               Jon               Aulds               was               named               the               senior               pastor               of               Friendship               Congregational               Christian               Church               (FCCC)               in               Baxley,               GA               in               1965.

FCCC               was               part               of               a               larger               network               of               churches               throughout               Georgia               that               met               twice               a               year.

Due               to               the               cessation               of               their               youth               camping               program,               Pastor               Aulds               sought               to               establish               his               own               summer               camp               ministry               for               the               growing               number               of               youth               their               church               had               gained.

His               own               experience               with               camps               in               Louisiana               and               Kansas               would               greatly               contribute               to               his               knowledge               of               building               such               a               ministry.
               After               receiving               permission               from               the               South               Georgia               Association               of               Congregational               Christian               Churches,               Pastor               Aulds               and               several               members               rented               Mount               Bethel               Camp,               located               in               Ashburn,               GA.

From               1966-1973,               children               of               every               age               met               here               during               the               summer               for               a               one               week               Bible               camp               and               were               taught               by               three               pastors               who               were               close               friends               of               Pastor               Aulds               and               his               wife.

Volunteers               from               over               ten               churches               throughout               Southern               and               Middle               Georgia               aided               the               Aulds               in               their               endeavor.

Due               to               the               large               amount               of               success               experienced               by               the               camp               over               several               years,               Pastor               Aulds               decided               he               desperately               needed               his               own               land               on               which               to               construct               a               larger               ministry.
               On               July               24,               1970               a               businessman               from               Crawford               County,               GA               by               the               name               of               Mr.

Millard               Easler               graciously               donated               fifty               acres               of               land               to               FCCC               and               the               network               of               churches.

In               loving               memory               of               Mr.

Easler's               late               wife,               the               camp               was               named               Camp               Eunice.

Several               volunteers               from               every               church               began               to               clear               the               necessary               land               and               scheduled               camp               work               weeks               every               month.

Within               no               time               at               all,               two               dormitory               buildings               and               a               dining               hall               were               erected.

The               dining               hall               was               outfitted               with               a               kitchen,               large               eating               area,               and               an               adult               lodging               wing.

A               small               concession               stand               "hut",               named               "The               Canteen",               was               also               built               to               sell               snacks               and               soft               drinks               to               the               campers.

The               first               camp               was               held               in               1977               with               over               133               children               and               teens               in               attendance.

Chapel               services               were               held               in               the               dining               hall.
               In               1979,               a               permanent               chapel               facility               was               built               with               a               large               sanctuary               area               and               four               classrooms               intended               for               Bible               and               devotion               class               use.

Within               the               years               that               followed,               more               adult               lodging,               a               craft               room               and               a               work               office               have               also               been               built               with               much               time,               money               and               energy               sacrificed               from               countless               volunteers.

In               addition,               a               recreational               pavilion               complete               with               ping               pong               tables               was               added               to               the               campus.

In               2002,               a               recreational               shelter               facility               was               erected               with               a               floor               made               of               sand,               to               be               used               for               game               time.

In               2005,               two               mobile               trailers               were               donated               to               the               Camp               ministry               and               are               now               used               for               additional               Bible               classrooms.
               Pastor               Aulds               has               been               the               official               Camp               Director               of               Camp               Eunice               since               1974               (previously               the               Ashburn               location               in               1966),               along               with               his               wife               Loralee               Aulds.

Jon               and               Loralee               have               five               children,               all               of               whom               have               graduated               from               Southeastern               Bible               College               in               Birmingham,               Alabama,               the               alma               mater               of               my               own               parents:               Stan               and               Annette               Givens.

All               of               the               Aulds               children               actively               attend               church               and               are               involved               in               several               ministries,               save               for               Danny               Aulds,               who               served               the               Lord               until               he               died               in               1995.

Ironically,               my               father,               Senior               Pastor               Stan               Givens               of               Northside               Bible               Church               (www.northsidebiblechurch.net)               in               Mobile,               AL,               has               been               the               chapel               speaker               and               worship               leader               of               Camp               Eunice               since               2002.

Dozens               of               volunteers               have               journeyed               to               Camp               Eunice               to               assist               with               every               operation,               including               kitchen               staff               and               cooks,               counselors,               class               teachers,               recreation               coordinators,               etc.

I               have               assisted               my               father               with               camp               worship               sessions               and               music               since               2006.
               Due               to               the               overwhelming               number               of               youth               who               attend,               Camp               Eunice               is               now               split               into               three               weeks               according               to               age               groups               and               school               grades:               Beginner               Camp,               Junior               Camp               and               Senior               Camp.

Beginner               Camp               costs               $55.00.

The               fee               for               Junior               and               Senior               Camp               is               $65.00.

The               late               registration               fee               is               $75.00.

In               addition,               campers               are               typically               asked               to               bring               $8.00               for               camp               T-shirts.

    Previewing               Southeastern               Bible               College               may               allow               you               to               discover               a               whole               new               educational               option.

    If               you               have               always               thought               of               southern               schools               as               being               all               about               big,               hugely               successful               football               programs,               with               enormous               marching               bands               and               all               kinds               of               fraternities               and               sororities               you               obviously               haven't               been               previewing               Southeastern               Bible.

    It's               definitely               located               in               the               south,               the               school               name               and               its               address               in               Birmingham,               Alabama               give               that               away,               but               there               the               connection               to               southern               football-fraternity               tradition               comes               to               an               abrupt               end.

    Anyone               previewing               Southeastern               Bible               College               will               discover               that               this               is               a               small               but               highly               goal               oriented               institution.

    Background.

    There               is               no               getting               around               the               fact               that               most               people               in               America               have               not               heard               of               Southeastern               Bible               College               in               Birmingham,               Alabama               .

    Still               for               70               years               it               has               been               educating               young               men               and               women               who               have               chosen               to               prepare               for               careers               in               Christian               ministry               or               church               related               positions.

    It               has               not               had               as               a               goal               developing               into               a               high               powered               ,               multi               disciplined               academic               entity.

    Southeastern               Bible               College               has               always               focused               on               its               students               one               at               a               time               and               attempted               to               prepare               each               one               to               be               a               someone               who               is               "making               a               difference               -impacting               the               world".
                   Each               person               who               comes               to               Southeastern               Bible               College               in               Birmingham,               Alabama               is               expected               to               be               a               person               of               faith               who               is               ready               to               commit               to               four               years               of               training               and               mentoring               which               will               produce               graduates               who               are               "biblically               grounded,               spiritually               mature               and               culturally               relevant."               This               is               not               a               school               where               people               come               to               play               or               watch               football               or               to               pursue               life               in               a               fraternity               or               even               to               pursue               diverse               academic               programs.

    But               the               truth               is               whatever               extra               curricular               activity               you               might               engage               in               is               very               secondary               to               the               reason               why               you               have               come               the               Southeastern               Bible               College.
                   There               are               schools               in               the               U.

    that               young               people               seek               out               because               the               specialty               offered               at               the               school               is               perhaps               education,               engineering,               music,               or               art.

    There               really               should               be               no               surprise               that               some               people               are               looking               for               a               school               where               they               can               develop               their               knowledge               of               God               through               the               Bible               and               prepare               for               careers               that               will               allow               that               knowledge               to               bear               fruit.

    Some               of               those               people               will               find               that               a               good               place               to               begin               that               journey               is               at               Southeastern               Bible               College.
